Congregations Seeking to Have an Impact

In this interactive workshop we will examine Canadian-based research on defining features of flourishing congregations, followed by an exploration of congregations seeking to have an impact in areas of religious transmission with children and teens, plus neighbourhood involvement and evangelism with those beyond the local church.

Dr. Joel Thiessen is Professor of Sociology, Director of the Flourishing Congregations Institute, and Chair of the Social Sciences Department at Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta. For more on his published research related to topics such as congregations, religious nones, millennials, or religion in Canada, visit www.joelthiessen.ca.

“Resourcing One Another” Short Sessions

With the hope of nurturing creativity and innovation, we will hold several 45 minute short sessions with a practical focus on a variety of ministry areas. The sessions will be led by and for general delegates and participants. Each session will include a time of listening to some practical examples and experiences, and engaging in conversation together. You will have the option to “choose your own adventure” and attend the topics that are of most interest to you. Ministry areas may include youth ministry, children’s ministry, communication, global and local engagement, and prayer.
